Welcome Week will be commencing Monday 27th September and will run until Saturday 2nd October.Check this out
Welcome Week is an action packed week dedicted to First years. We've put together a collection of fun and exciting activities and events taking place throughout the week to welcome you to the Harper lifestyle and to help you get to know each other! Don't worry this year we've got lots of amazing acts, competitions and much more in store for you.
You can purchase a wristband for Welcome Week through the events page. This wristband will get you into all the events/activities throughout the week.
Freshers Fair is basically the introductory period for new students to get to know what's available to them on campus and it's surrounding areas before teaching begins. Our Freshers Fair will open you up to all the clubs and societies available on campus as well as some of the close charities and businesses that are available around Shropshire. This year the Freshers Fair will run between 10am-2pm so don't miss out!
Before you start purchasing events, acitivities or wristbands for Welcome Week, please make sure you understand what you're purchasing. For example, to purchase a tickets to our nightclub events you will need to be double vaccinated and have proof of this before entry. Each event will state whether or not you will need to be double jabbed, so make sure you check beforehand. Refunds will only be accepted in certain circumstances so make sure you read through what is required for each event. To request a refund you will need to contact us on studentsunion@harper-adams.ac.uk.
If you find out you have caught Covid-19 during Welcome Week you will need to alert a member of the Student Services team asap! Once notified your whole floor will need to isolate for 10 days.
As of the end of September, the law will state that all nightclubs and other overcrowded events will need proof of double vaccination before entry. If you would like to attend our nightclub events then you will need to be double vaccinated and have proof to show on the door. However, we understand not everyone has had the chance or wants to be vaccinated, so we have a number of other events on throughout the week in the Welly Inn and outdoors that those who haven't been double vaccinated can join in with.
We will be running a number of different events throughout Welcome Week to appeal to everyone. We understand that not everyone will be double vaccinated by the time Welcome Week starts and will miss out on the events in our nightclub. Because of this we have events going on in the Welly Inn throughout the week as well as outdoor activities and sports for everyone to join in.
Making friends is always a worry when you start somewhere new. Everyone's in the same boat as a first year so try not to worry about it too much. If you're eager to meet people before the term starts you can join the Official Harper Adams Starters 2021 Facebook group. Here you can get to know other first years and even people on your course and in your halls. During Welcome Week there will also be plenty of opportunities to meet new people through the acitivities and events we have planned.
