The Harper Adams Motorsport Club’s main goal is to enable students to enter the motorsport community affordably. We currently only have one car in the club, a Land Rover TD5 based Tomcat. As a club we also run other events such as Navigational Rallies, Go Karting and we also help out as marshals at local events. We also have a relaxed weekly social at The Sutherland Arms pub in Tibberton from 19:30, as well as monthly trips to caffeine and machine! You don’t have to have any previous experience, or even have a driving license to join the club!
TOMCAT
The Tomcat is on long-term loan to the university after an unfortunate incident at a winch trial in Morocco where it landed on its roof. Over the following 6 years, members of the club stripped the car back to a bare frame and it was fully rebuilt with a TD5 land rover engine. In 2019 the car competed at its first Scottish Borders Hill Rally and won the team our first trophy! Since we have competed in 2021 winning three more trophies and in the Welsh Hill Rally 2022.
Currently the tomcat is now beginning to take its previous shape, and our aim is to get it into a good enough state to be able to take it to some events such as staffs and shrops rally and anything else we can get.
We are also looking into getting a new car which we will use for a variety of different events such as track days, race events and many more!
There’s plenty to get stuck in with, so if you have a lot of experience or none, everyone’s welcome!
