Can't find the right Club or Society for you?
Check out our groups in need of saving:
Our clubs and societies are groups of students with shared interests, hobbies, or beliefs that are formally affiliated and supported with Harper Adams SU. Below are a list of clubs and societies who have closed down within the last 2 years and are in need of saving.
You can save any of the following clubs and societies:
- Arts and Crafts Society
- Brewing Society
- Ecological Society
- Engineering Society
- Pseudo Toastmasters Society
- The Magpies Pickings Society
Important information:
- To be eligible to Save a Society, you cannot have been on the committee of the club/society you are trying to save at the time is was disaffiliated.
- The new committee agree to abide by the pre-existing society constitution. If it does not exist, the new committee must submit one. You can request a copy of the constitution in the application form.
- The new committee agreeing to continue the aims and objectives of the original group and to not alter the purpose of the society except via an AGM of the society whereby all student members of the society are invited to attend and vote on these changes. This AGM must take place only after the group has a body of 10 student members.
- A student will be deemed ineligible to reactivate a society if they were on any student group committee the year preceding and this student group was disaffiliated or rendered inactive during their term in office - unless this disaffiliation or deactivation was triggered by the student group themselves.
Before completing the form please ensure you have the following:
- A minimum of three different students as committee members to fill the core positions of Chair (AKA President or Club Captain), Treasurer, and Secretary. You can have more committee positions if you like (e.g. charity officer or social secretary), but the three core roles listed above must be filled.
- The Names, Student IDs, and Email addresses of your committee ready.
- A list of at least 10 interested students (including names and student numbers)
- Think about the general activities of your club or society.
- If you are saving a club please be aware you must be successful for 1 year before entering BUCS so keep this in mind with finances/budgeting and planning activities.
- Think about the risks associated with your club or society activity. We will ask you some questions around this so we can provide appropriate support for you once you are registered. We will ask you to do conduct a risk assessment for your activities, but don’t worry – we have a template for this and are here to support you with getting it right.
