Harper Adams Motorsport is the student led racing team at the University. Throughout the year members will be involved in competing, marshalling or spectating at a variety of motorsport events.
Harper Adams Motorsport Club is currently running 2 race ready high performance vehicles, including a Land Rover chassis based comp safari Tomcat, and a highly modified Volkswagen polo. Competing nationally with the tomcat, and running in house competitions, there’s a number of events to do. One of the only fully Student run and student driven motorsport clubs in the UK. One of the most high octane clubs you can be part of. Information about Club: The vehicles we own are: A 180bhp ex-Volkswagen racing Polo 6N2. This is used for track days and autotests where any members are able to drive as long as you have a valid driving licence. We are always looking for ways to improve the appearance and performance of the Polo whilst in the workshop. A TD5 Land Rover based Tomcat. This vehicle, in a previous life, competed all over the world. Eventually it met its mach when it rolled over in Morocco during a winch challenge. After this, it was kindly donated to the university to give it a second life, and over the last 6 years, members of the club have been working hard to get it in working order. In November of 2019, the club managed to successfully complete the Borders Rally in Scotland in this Tomcat, marking an emotional time for the members who had worked so hard for 5 years to get it to this point. In the academic year of 2020-2021, we aim to take part in more rallies which will give members the opportunity to see behind the scenes of the exciting rally environment, an opportunity which most members of the public don’t get the privilege to see, whether its being part of the service crew, Marshall crew, or even the radio crew. We aim to host as many events as possible throughout the year, some events may be virtual, some use club vehicles, but there is even many chances to be able to test your own vehicles or even see vehicles from other organisations at shows or track days.

Mission Statement: At the Motorsport Club, originally established in August 2014, we are committed to offering a safe, affordable and easy way into motorsport. As a club, we attend events such as comp safaris, track days, rallies and shows, and at these events, we take on many roles such as, but not limited to; exhibitors, marshals, service crew, drivers, and co drivers. Our weekly workshop sessions include maintaining and preparing both of our club vehicles, ensuring that they will be ready for the deadline of their next events. Then afterwards, for our evening social you can usually find us at the Sutherland Arms in Tibberton (a short 5-minute drive from Harper’s campus), but sometimes we change this up and book different events like bowling or watching events. Transport can be provided by fellow members to and from socials. What do you need to join? A “can do” attitude will make sure you make the most of the club's potential. Without the need of you owning a car, or even being able to drive, why not jump in and give it a go! No mechanical knowledge is required, nor do you need to be on a course relating to engineering or motorsport. We are all here to help and learn together to reach new achievements on behalf of the university’s club.
