Harper Adams Motorsport is the student led racing team at the University. Throughout the year members will be involved in competing, marshalling or spectating at a variety of motorsport events.
The Harper Adams Motorsport Club’s main goal is to enable students to enter the motorsport community affordably. We currently have two cars in the club, a Citroën C2 and a Land Rover TD5 based Tomcat. As a club we also run other events such as Navigational Rallies, Go Karting and we also help out as marshals at local events. We also have a relaxed weekly social at The Sutherland Arms pub in Tibberton from 19:30. You don’t have to have any previous experience, or even have a driving license to join the club!
C2
The C2 is a new edition to the club so there is lots of work to get stuck in on! The car should be track ready early this year. Track days allow multiple drivers to experience the thrill of driving full speed on a circuit and all you need is a driving license and a helmet! We are very keen to get freshers out in the cars as a reward for the time spent in the workshop prepping and maintaining our fleet.
Tomcat
The Tomcat is on long-term loan to the university after an unfortunate incident at a winch trial in Morocco where it landed on its roof. Over the following 5 years, members of the club stripped the car back to a bare frame and it was fully rebuilt with a TD5 land rover engine. In 2019 the car competed at its first Scottish Borders Hill Rally and won the team our first trophy! Since we have competed in 2021 winning three more trophies and also in the Welsh Hill Rally 2022.
