Harper Adams SU is committed to the eradication of single-use plastic within our venues.
As part of this critical work in reducing single-use plastic, we’ve launched a reusable cup scheme within our bar! When you arrive at the bar and buy your first drink you’ll purchase a cup as part of the drink price (£1). When you buy your second drink bring your cup with you and we’ll swap it for a fresh one free of charge. You can do this as many times as you like and you’ll only need to pay for your cup once. At the end of the night, we’d ask you to return your cup to the bar. Alternately, you may take it with you and bring it back next time.
Whereby the use of plastic in our venues is unavoidable we’ll always strive to use recycled, recyclable or will seek to source alternatives in future! Reusable cups are more expensive than single-use plastic. So the £1 charge helps us to cover the cost of purchase, washing and loss of cups. Any residual income generated from the reusable cup scheme will support our sustainability work across the Students' Union and on campus.
