We’re extremely excited to announce that Harper Adams Students’ Union will pay the Living Wage for all student staff from this September 2019 and seeking accreditation to become a Living Wage Employer by The Living Wage Foundation.
Our Living Wage commitment will mean all of our staff are paid at least the hourly UK rate set by The Living Wage Foundation, rising annually in line with the real cost of living in the UK.
As a result of our current re-structure and new management (new Students' Union Director, Students' Union President and Vice President) and feedback and comments from students, and ex-student employee's we now can commit to the principle of paying a Living Wage that is sustainable, affordable, and fair.
This means that all our student staff, will be paid £9.19 per hour regardless of age from the 6th September 2019. ?
Our SU President Dan Jervis said: “We are pleased to have had the opportunity to improve the pay and conditions for student staff. Student staff play a huge role in delivering some of our key services with the support of full-time staff and fully deserve to be paid the living wage, as determined by the Living Wage Foundation. The new SU leadership team have worked hard to ensure we can commit to this for future years, and successfully lobbied the Trustee Board who accepted the uplift within our budget for 2019/2020"
