Harper Adams Christian Union organised ‘Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Packing Party and Movie Night’, enabling staff, students and the local community to support such a good cause.

The shoebox campaign is an international campaign set up by the Samaritans Purse, with thousands of companies, societies, and charities across the globe taking part to give children around the world.

The union worked closely with a number of Harper Adams staff and students, St Peters Church in Edgmond and the local Women’s Institute to make up 13 complete boxes, with items to spare.

Each shoebox was packed full with a variety of essential items including;

  • A bar of soap and face cloth
  • A toothbrush
  • A set made up of a hat, scarf and a pair of gloves
  • A hair comb
  • Socks
  • Notebooks, pens, crayons, and pencils
  • A variety of toys
  • A special Christmas Card

Each box cost £5 to send and all shoeboxes were sent to a collection centre in Shrewsbury where they have been checked and distributed across the world.

Thank you to everyone that took part and for supporting the Samaritans Purse ‘Operation Christmas Child’ project.

Shoeboxes have now all been collected from all drop off locations, but you can still make a shoebox online by visiting https://www.samaritans-purse.org.uk/.
