If University was only about the studying, then we would all have much less fun and considerably fewer stories and memories. The kind of memories which start with “just one drink on a Wednesday” but end up being talked about for the rest of the year and many years into the future.
Every University has a student night; Harper Adams has FLOCK Night. Every Wednesday students from across all campus come together to take a break from assignments, let off steam and remind themselves there is in fact a life outside of the Moodle VLE. FLOCK is where societies come together, friendships are formed and students realise that they can in fact hear the same song 5 times in a row and still enjoy it, for many Wednesdays aren’t a day of the week it is a lifestyle.
Christmas Ball – The Start of the Festive Season
With the nights getting colder assignment deadlines arriving sooner then you like Christmas ball comes to save the day, it gives you a chance to swap your wellies and hoodies for something a bit smarter with your mates. With top tier entertainment, great food trucks and a bouncing atmosphere Christmas ball is guaranteed to deliver one of the most memorable nights of the year.
It also gives a shock reminder that the people you sit next to in lectures can actually scrub up quite well.
Paddy’s Ball: The Event Everyone Talks About

Paddy’s Ball is legendary
Year after year, it remains one of the biggest and most anticipated events we have on the student calendar. The atmosphere is unmatched, the music is untouchable and the stories are sometimes best left not talked about. Students count down to it from the start of the first term, and many alumni still talk about “that Paddy’s Ball” years after they graduate.
Harper Fest (Summer Ball): The Grand Finale
After a year of lectures, placements, exams, practicals and more 9 am lectures then anyone asked for, Summer Ball is your reward. It’s the chance for you to celebrate all which you have achieved, enjoy a unreal evening with mates and make a final few memories before heading home for the summer.
For final years it’s a perfect farewell but for everyone else it’s the perfect way to finish the academic year and start looking forward to doing it all again next year.
Make the Most of it
University life goes by quicker then you think, so go get dressed up for the FLOCK night theme. Dust off your finest black-tie attire for Christmas Ball. Make memories at Paddy’s Ball. Dance the night away at Summer Ball.
Because one day you’ll be the alumnus telling the next generation of Harper that things were “much better in your day” when in your head you are wishing you could do it all over again.
