Hockey

The Hockey Club, formally known as Harper’s greatest team, have been competing in the BUCS league with 2 men’s and 2 women’s teams since the beginning of time. We aim to cater for all abilities, whether you’ve never picked up a stick or class yourself as a professional, keep the ego in check and remember there’s always someone better than you! Although competitively placed in the respective leagues we still know how to have a good time. Wednesdays are key to our members team ‘spirit’ and consist of a match in the afternoon, either home or away, followed by a bus social back to Harper or social in one of Newport’s pubs in the evening.

Training is on Monday and Tuesday nights on the Astro turf with separate training times for the men’s and women’s. So get your stick and shin pads together and be part of the Hockey Club’s future success.

Membership is split into either an annual payment of £150 or £60 for training membership. Membership includes weekly coaching and fitness training from our qualified coach (Phill), transport to BUCS away fixtures, kit for the year, and everyone is welcome at socials.

The captains keeping the first teams in order are Charlie Houghton and Harriet Stephenson with second team responsibilities being left in the capable hands of Sam Haigh and Charlotte Lawder.
