Meet The Team

Students' Union President: Jess Millbank

Jess is the Students' Union President and is responsible for representing students in all deliberations on all aspects of university decision making from Board of Govenors to the Academic Board and eveything between. Jess also manages the SU Exec team, suporting them with their campaigns and events. In Partnership with the Vice President, Jess helps direct what events and entertainment students want on campus. Jess is finishing off her post graduate degree in International Agri- Business and Food Chain Management after completing her undergraduate at Harper as well as being actively involved in the Polo Club where she captained her second year. 

 

 

Students' Union Vice President: Thomas Carmona

 

 

Thomas is the Students' Union Vice President and is responsible for Course Tutor meetings and more of the student involvement activities. Thomas' role is more hands-on delviering activities in line with student wellness, wellbeing and engagement. Thomas has been active member of the SU Exec team in his second year and was part of Welcome Week Crew. Thomas joined the SU after completeing his degree in Coutnryside Management. 

Thomas is an active Chess player and is actively trying to re-establish the club as well as being a die hard Harry Potter fan.

 

 

Student Union Director: Liam Davis

 

 

Liam is the Union Director and is responsible for managing the staff team, supporting the officers and delivering the Union’s strategic plan. Liam reports to the Trustee Board and is responsible for HASU’s governance and charitable objectives. Liam joined HASU in July 2021 having previously worked in a number of roles at Loughborough Students’ Union, Newham College of FE and sabbatical roles within the Students’ Union at De Montfort University. He lives in Derbyshire and enjoys travelling, sport, following Chesterfield FC and spending time with his family.

 

 

Student Voice Coordinator: Zena Rittenhouse

 

 

Zena joined us from Harper’s Marketing Department in October of this year. Her newly created role is Student Voice and Insight Coordinator following the request from Harper students for greater academic representation from their union. Zena’s responsibilities include work with Course Reps (Educational Champions), organization of the democratic elections, and the collection of student voice through methods like our Student Voice surveys.

 

 

 

Events and Marekting Manager; Katie Jones

 

Katie is the Students' Union Events and Marketing Manager and is responsible for the overall management of all the large events on campus and all of the SU's marketing from the social media channels to the websites. Katie also oversees all course, club and society dinners and is the general go to gal for any queries. 

Katie enjoys all things fitness including going to the gym, Aeiral Hoop and Hiking! 

 

 

 

Activities Coordinator: Mike Jones

 

Mike is the Students' Unions Activities Coordinator and is the go to man for Clubs and Socieites on campus. Mike manages all club fixtures through BUCS and assists with all clubs and societies activties. In addition, Mike has been the mastermind behind the refurbishment of the HASU Gym, kitting it out with new, high-quality equipment. You'll usually see Mike with a Black Coffee to hand! 

 


 

 

Activities and Events Coordinator; Becky Davies

 

Becky is the newest member of the team in another newly created role as the SU’s Activities and Events Assistant since January 2023. Becky’s role supports our Activities Co-Ordinator and our Marketing and Events Manager in all things from planning our big events through the year, to helping with the running of our sports clubs and societies. She also shares responsibility of our social media channels and website, designing content for these and communicating with our audience. Becky came to Harper after graduating from The UEA in 2021 and then spending a year working in inclusive education. She loves sports, her dogs and socialising with her friends.

 

Venues Manager; Adam Parton

Adam is the Venues Manager and is responsible for managing the SU Barn and Welly for our classic Flock Wednesdays, where all the fun happens!

Adam joined the team in 2021 and since joinging has implemented a full evening activity schedule for the Welly including; Karaoke Mondays, Takeover Tuesdays, Quiz Thursdays and Live Music in the Welly! 

 

 

 

 


Finance Officer; Sarah-Jayne Etherington 

Sarah- Jayne is the bean counter, managing all the money that comes through the Students' Union. Sarah joined the team back in 2019 and is officially the coolest member of staff, having seen all the best bands!
